FastScanner: An Accessibility Tool for Motor Impaired Users
نویسندگان
چکیده
People with motor impairments often face difficulties in accessing interactive applications and services. This paper presents a tool, named FastScanner that enables motor-impaired users to work with any application running in Microsoft Windows, without the need of a posteriori modification, through the use of binary switches as an alternative to traditional input devices. Evaluation of the tool has shown that it facilitates effective and efficient

Holistic accessibility evaluation using VR simulation of users with special needs
In this paper, we present a novel methodology to evaluate the accessibility of products using virtual prototypes. The novelty is that the product evaluation is based on simulating the interactions of users with physical deficiencies in virtual and immersive environments. Virtual users with special needs, e.g. elderly or impaired people, were modelled using both literature data and real subjects...
متن کاملBarrier Pointing: Using Physical Edges to Assist Target Acquisition on Mobile Device Touch Screens
Mobile phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs) are incredibly popular pervasive technologies. Many of these devices contain touch screens, which can present problems for users with motor impairments due to small targets and their reliance on tapping for target acquisition. In order to select a target, users must tap on the screen, an action which requires the precise motion of flying into...
متن کاملA Review of Popular Applications on Google Play - Do They Cater to Visually Impaired Users?
The number of applications on online mobile application stores is increasing at a rapid rate. Smart-phones are used by a wide range of people varying in age, and also in the ability to use a smart phone. With the increasing dependency on smart-phones, the paper aims to determine whether the popular applications on Google Play, the official store for Android applications, can be used by people w...
متن کاملEvaluating accessibility through simulating the experiences of user users with vision or motor impairments
User studies involving users with disabilities often incur greater financial cost and complexity than those involving general populations. One consequence of this is that accessibility issues may not be identified during the earlier phases of design, when designs are still malleable. Additionally, it can be difficult to create controlled studies with multiple groups of very similar subjects due...
